Denis O'Connor Glass Vase, Rainbow Stripe Australian Glass Artist

  

A glass vase by Denis O'Connor, ovate, blown in near black glass with a simple stripe in rainbow colours. Signed & dated O'Connor'84 (Factory) on the polished base. The entire surface is silky smooth as if it too has been fire polished, unusual.

An item of gallery quality, by the talented and highly skilled glass artist, in excellent vintage condition, with just some spots of very light surface wear. Denis O'Connor has worked with glass for many years.

He was a pioneer contributor to the evolution of studio glass in Australia during the 1970s and 1980s. However from the late 1980s he reconnected to his art school discovery of drawing the human figure. Denis's work is generated by the emotive directness of drawing. His work in glass now rarely comes to the market. Size: 13 cm high, 18 x 16 cm ; weight 1.28 Kg.
