Rare Inuit Folk Art Hand Carved Stone Salmon Fish by George Alayco Artist Signed 2004 #11-32342. This fabulous piece of Inuit folk art is a beautiful and tactile stone carving of a fish by acclaimed artist George Alayco. Inuit carvings are some of the rarest and most saught after folk or indigenous art as they have been made in the same traditional way for hundreds of thousands of years and represent a way of life that has captured the fascination of people since it brought to the attention of the Western World around the 16th century. This fantastic piece is by George Alayco, an inuit artist who's smooth black stone carvings depicting traditional inuit hunting and lifestyle scenes have made his work highly collectible across the US, Europe & the UK. The intricately carved details highlighted with touches of white create contrast and interest against the wonderfully tactile black stone, the ends rounded and smoothed to make the experience a material one as well as visual.
